For Your Love - Savage Rose

 

Savage Rose는 Annisette의 잔잔하면서
활화산이 폭발하는 듯한 보컬을 들을 수 있는
그룹 결성 30주년이 된 덴마크 출신
북유럽 음악계의 절대적인 혼성 락그룹이다

1966년 덴마크 태생의 흑인여가수인 Savage Rose

For your love는 인종차별적 사건을 모티브로 삼아 노래한 곡이다.  

그녀는 과거 남아프리카 공화국에서 행한 인종 분리 정책이었던

'아파르트헤이트(Apartheid)'를 반대하면서 Afrika를 불렀고,

이스라엘 군인들에 의해 죽어가는 팔레스타인 아이들을 위해 Song of Palestine을 불렀으며,

그리고 백인 소녀를 사랑했다는 이유로 살해되었던 한 흑인 소년을 추모하며 

소개한 For your love를 Savage Rose는 불렀다.

2000년  미국의 미시시피(Mississippi)주의 한 도시 코코모(Kokomo),

그곳에서 17세의 Raynard Johnson이라는 이름의 한 흑인 학생이

나무에 목이 매달려 죽어 있는 채 발견이 된다.  

경찰에서는 곧 자살이라는 사인 판정을 내렸지만

대부분의 사람들은 그 사실을 믿지 를 않는다. 

그 소년이 자살할 특별한 이유도 없었고,

목에 매달린 벨트가 소년의 것도 아니었던 이유도 있었지만,

결정적으로 그가 죽기전 백인 소녀와 교제중이었다는 사실이 밝혀졌기 때문이다. 

여전히 미국 남부의 일부지역에서 터부시되는 흑인 남자와 백인 여성간의 교제가

그 사건의 중심에 있었던 것이다.
